The OK Program is a mentoring and leadership development model that focuses on Black males, 12-18 years old. The goals of the OK Program are to develop leadership and critical thinking skills, promote academic excellence, and reduce the high rates of incarceration and homicide amongst young black males. Additionally, we improve relationships between law enforcement and the Black community. Our collaborative team mentorship model brings together local police officers, school districts, and the faith community with the goal of improving lives while empowering Black men and boys to transform their communities.
Black boys are the only demographic in this country, that if they have a legitimate threat on their lives, they won't call the police. They would rather pick up a gun and try to handle the situation themselves because they don't trust the police.
